Building a home as an owner-builder is both a challenging and exciting experience. Building a home as an owner-builder with Self-Help Homes will give you the opportunity to not only build your home, but also be a part of a group of owner-builders where you come to know your neighbors as you help them build their homes.

What We Do
OUR HOUSING MODEL
Mutual Self-Help Housing
Self-Help Homes uses the Mutual Self-Help Housing owner-builder model to assist you in constructing your home as an owner-builder and the homes of eight to ten individuals and/or family owner-builders in your group. Everyone in the owner-builder group will help construct each home under the supervision of a Self-Help Homes construction supervisor. No one will move into their home until all of the homes in the group are complete.
A Variety of House Plans
We have over twenty house plans to choose from, with a number of different choices in colors and materials. We also build in several different communities and have an inventory of available lots on which to build. Once you are approved, one of our friendly staff will help you make your house plan choice.
Many owner-builder participant families have a story to tell. Below are some of those who were willing to share their struggles and accomplishments in achieving the “American Dream” of owning their own home.
