PAYSON – Standing with six other families who helped build each other’s homes, Russell and Amber Collins cut the ribbon in the garage of their new home in Payson during a Mutual Self-Help Housing of Rural Housing Development Corporation celebration on Thursday. “It still feels like some service project,” Russell Collins said. “I don’t know what it will feel like to be in my own home.” Rural Housing Development Corporation, a government branch that helps groups of people build their own houses together, also was celebrating having completed more than 200 homes. The organization has completed 213 houses since 2000. Each family works 35 hours a week for about six and half months until completion.
